This year we are giving special recognition to our “superheroes” team
This year we are giving special recognition to our “superheroes” team. They are more than 140 committed volunteers who have served in our Food Program in the year 2020 till date. They risked their health and joined our fight against the lingering food insecurity in our community, distributing well above 1,200,000 pounds of food and essential personal care items to more than 500,000 families in just June through October of 2020 when all the food programs in our Norwood neighborhood were closed. And they are still serving!
Our "unsung heroes” team, who had served in 2020 as frontline workers during the lockdown occasioned by the global coronavirus pandemic, included 70 National Guards, 120 New York Cares, and twenty of our in-house courageous volunteers. Gladly, our organization was recognized for our work by being named the Food Bank for the City of New York’s 2021 Agency of the Year, and the 52nd Police Prescient’s 2021 Mahoney/Shankman Award winner. During this year’s Fundraising Luncheon, the volunteers have been deservedly nominated for Community Service Award. COME, LET'S CELEBRATE OUR HEROES!
