Have You Any Room For Jesus Christ?

Posted on Mon, Oct 27, 2008

The good new is: Jesus Christ died for our sins past, present and future. He accepted God’s just punishment for our transgressions. Thus, God credited righteousness in our account with Him, and covered our sins with the blood of His son. You simply must claim your forgiveness. “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.” Psalms 32:1

As a citizen of a sinful and potently injured world, are your sins covered? Stop and think! “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”  2 Corinthians 5:21   . Do you have a room today in your heart for Jesus Christ who so dearly loves you?

The world in its current state is potently injured because of sin. Shifting values, ever changing humanity, injustice and wickedness; these are the bane of our society. These evils did not begin today. After He had created the world, God was very satisfied with its goodness. He was very pleased with His creation. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” This phrase is repeated more than nine times in Genesis chapter one.

Regrettably, in Adam’s disobedience, humanity missed the mark of God in creation, and became deficient of (His) glory” and expectation. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made themGenesis 6:5-7

When God severed fellowship with Adam in the Garden of Eden becaue of sin and drove him into a world ridden with deception, falsehood and all manner of corruption, he became the product of already soiled environment.  Since then, sinful humanity in all its luring pursuits has been gravitating towards self and everything that will please self. We have become God’s enemy with inordinate pleasures that are at war with God   It does not matter who is hurt, how they are hurt and when they are hurt; in our selfish pursuit of happiness, we have become fearlessly unmindful of the original plan of God for us: we were created for fellowship with God.

The question is: How long will we be alienated from God? What is the aftermath of this separation? Obviously, God wants us back. But dear reader, will you return to Him?  He says: “Come now, and let us reason together …though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” Isaiah 1:18.  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” Jeremiah 29:11 .In another place, He repeats:Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20

Stop and think! “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”  2 Corinthians 5:21   In Christ Jesus, you are guaranteed a right standing with God because He has restored your son-ship position. But you must acknowledge your sins and sincerely turn to Him in repentance for forgiveness. Perhaps, you might feel that you do not need forgiveness because you have done nothing against God. My friend, there is no righteous man. We all have sinned against God, regardless of our perceived innocence. And we stand condemned before Him unless we are forgiven and justified.

The good new is: Jesus Christ died for our sins – past, present and future.

The bad news is that if you reject God’s offer of reconciliation, you will appear before God and give account of yourself to Him.For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of ChristRomans 14:12.  God’s children will soon be removed from this sinful world into a place God has prepared for them, where they will for ever be with Him- a place devoid of pain, death, sorrows and crying. Unless your sins are covered and you have obtained God’s righteousness, this will not be you home. My dear friend, please reflect on this and remain blessed. Emaeyak Ekanem
