STOP and Think

Posted on Sat, Jan 19, 2008

The gift of salvation in Jesus Christ, which God has freely offered to our sin-sick humanity, is sadly being spurned every day. Mankind is unable to come to terms with its freeness, when in our capitalistic world “nothing goes for nothing”. Dear reader, God says he has personally secured our salvation in his son - Jesus Christ. Thus, it is free and priceless. Anyone - rich or poor – can have it. Dear friend, you need to ask and believe God’s word for your salvation today. You know not what tomorrow might bring.________________________________________

STOP AND THINK

STOP AND THINK! How would you react after you are told a story in which a man is offered an incredibly beautiful mansion and everything in it, including life itself, without a price, and he rejects it because he rationalizes that his status belies the offer? Still, he stands at the mansion’s gate, continuously gazing at the gorgeous palace. Soon, a man identifies himself to him as the mansion builder and deliberately asks to usher him into it as owner, if only he could get the key from his waiting son, but he repeatedly, scorns the offer. Reader, stop and think. Rationalization, correctness and imagination. These stand in the man’s mind against the free gift. Is his attitude not typical of you? Do you not rationalize and dismiss as incorrect and pure imaginary that you can be redeemed from God’s punishment and guaranteed a place in heaven without a price? Yet the bible says: “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:22-23. Stop and think. The man in our story is a true citizen of our capitalistic world in which there must be “something for something”. In God’s economy, vaguely representative of the mansion in the story, it is not so. God, the builder, freely offers you eternal life and his mansion in heaven through his son Jesus Christ. If you accept the gift - having faith in Jesus Christ – God’s son,  then the gift is yours.

It is written in the bible “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8. Jesus Christ is the gift of God without price and money. “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” Isaiah 55:1. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 Thanks be to God, for he has “made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light … Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” Colossian 1:12-13.

Stop and think. If today when there is an opportunity, you reject God’s offer of free salvation, because of your unbelief, how shall you escape, if you have no more time in future to receive God’s eternal life in Jesus Christ, without whom you stand eternally condemned before God. Reflect on this: “…To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts…” Hebrews 3:15. Stop and think. "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul in hell?” Mark 8:36.
