Trusting the infallible love of God. Part II

Posted on Mon, May 28, 2012

This is the mystery of God revealed, the blessing of the new covenant and the crowning of God’s infallible love that we must trust. May the Holy Spirit witness with our spirits that as children and heirs of God, we must live and be led by faith (and must not rely on wasted self efforts) within God’s economy to serve Him and humanity.

The profound and measureless love of God is clearly expressed in the New Covenant. Thus, understanding the new covenant is remarkably foundational to our relationship with God as nothing could be more personal or important than understanding the terms on which we relate to God as our Lord and Savior. (2 Cor. 3:4-11, Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 36:25-28; Hebrew 8:1-13).

It is safe and unquestionably steep to state that appropriating the blessings which God has provided- several glorious blessings of God - is contingent on “this covenanted” relationship with Him who also, is the God of “all-creation”.

First, see what is provided for us in the New Covenant: Personal relationship with God as sons and daughters, and continuous/ever-abiding indwelling of His Spirit. Second, within the new covenant is a never-ending fellowship with God. Also, the new covenant opens the believers’ eyes to the deep truth of unconditional forgiveness of sins and God’s ever-increasing and daily custodial sustenance of this righteous relationship, wholly and purely on His - God’s terms. “I will put My Spirit within you and CAUSE you to walk in My statutes and you will keep My judgments and do them” Ezekiel 36:27

"”This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and on their heart also will I write them: And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his fellow-citizen, And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: For all shall know me, From the least to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their iniquities, And their sins will I remember no more.” Jeremiah. 31:31-34

Now I say, that the heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; but is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Therefore you are no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Galatia 4:1-7

God’s Holy Spirit is wooing men and women to prepare the bride for Christ. Your sins - past, present and future - will be covered with the holiness of Jesus Christ as a covenant child. Psalms 32:1-2. But you must be willing to own up to them and confess them to God. He will forgive and keep you in His holiness if you confess Jesus Christ as Lord. Daily, He will cleanse you through His word as you read it, so as to present you to Himself as a radiant son or daughter “without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” There is no need to fear. You are covered with God’s holiness in Jesus Christ. “It is God who produces in you the desires and actions that please Him”, Philippians 2:13, not we ourselves. God will never forsake you.

We learn this glorious state of Christians in the covenant, which through the gospel dispensation exposes us to the wonders of "Divine love and mercy; particularly of God the Father, in sending his Son into the world to redeem and save us; of the Son of God, in submitting so low, and suffering so much for us; and of the Holy Spirit, in condescending to dwell in the hearts of believers, for gracious purposes. Although by nature children of wrath and disobedience, we have become by grace – unmerited favor - children of love, and partake of the nature of the children of God; purely of His making".

The following song expresses so well the contentment that comes with our covenanted relationship with God:
